LINDSEY CALLA

Lindsey Calla is an abstract mixed media artist and photographer living between Santa Fe, New Mexico and Hydra, Greece. Her work captures the harmony and essence of place with a refined eye for organic qualities that evoke a sense of connection to the cycles and beauty of nature. She is known for her pop-up installations in historic spaces, often including scent and music in the experience. She has participated in solo and group shows all over the world including The Museum of the Southwest and Art Athina.
Her ongoing Earth Auras photographic series captures the meditative simplicity of the layers of time embedded into the arroyos and canyons of the Southwest. Each work communicates a vibration that is alive in the landscape, a hidden harmony extracted from the sedimentary layers. Her work is deeply rooted in archeology, geology, and ancient philosophy. An abstract excavator, her work unlocks the secrets of time with each color an epoch and each print a geologic memory.

A story about listening. Featuring new work by multidisciplinary artists, Lindsey Calla and Anna Sheffield. This show is inspired by the earth's ability to speak to us through stone and the chromatic stories erosion gives us in the sunbaked hills of the Southwest. In ancient times, the dirt of the earth, the layers hidden beneath, were associated with dreams, healing, and artistic inspiration. Soft explorations in color and abstract form expose the stories of the earth's past. Through mediums of clay, fine metals, gemstones, and smoke, this intention is further explored, evoking a time of the great oracles who read the signs of the earth as prophecies.

A story about slowing down. In a world that moves so fast, certain times of the year call for a different pace, an inward orientation, and leaning into rest. This winter showcase features work by Jessyjo Darling, Emelie Richardson, Lindsey Calla, and Alysha Colangeli. In their specific mediums, each of these women connects to the groundedness of the earth, honoring the sacredness of the land here in New Mexico, that is so palpably felt during this quiet season.
