PAST EXHIBITIONS
EARTH ORACLE
September 21 – November 18, 2024
A story about listening. Featuring new work by multidisciplinary artists, Lindsey Calla and Anna Sheffield. This show is inspired by the earth's ability to speak to us through stone and the chromatic stories erosion gives us in the sunbaked hills of the Southwest. In ancient times, the dirt of the earth, the layers hidden beneath, were associated with dreams, healing, and artistic inspiration. Soft explorations in color and abstract form expose the stories of the earth's past. Through mediums of clay, fine metals, gemstones, and smoke, this intention is further explored, evoking a time of the great oracles who read the signs of the earth as prophecies.
COME WHAT MAY
July 20 – September 16, 2024
A story about wonder. Featuring new work by Boramie Sao. This show is inspired by the playfulness we often miss in the environments we find ourselves in - be it the natural world or the worlds built around us. This collection is an attempt to seek beyond the surface for something hidden and to interpret our perceptions through a new lens. How does it feel to daydream amidst the constant movement and seriousness of our day? What does it mean to take a step back and understand that what we think we have control over, or fully comprehend, is a mere facade? The meanings and emotions we associate with our experiences are endless and every moment is an opportunity to observe and be curious to the range of possibilities.
SECOND NATURE
June 1 – July 15, 2024
A story about pattern seeking. Featuring new work by weaver, Emelie Richardson. This show is an exploration of the instinctual and habitual nature of repetition and pattern. In these handwoven paintings, repetitive movements slowly translate into replicating line then form. Patterns repeat but are never identically reproduced, mimicking nature’s cyclical yet unpredictable behaviors. Through repetition there is a letting go, a getting lost, a meandering off path. Contours begin to blur; soft fascination prevails.
EARTH & ALTAR
April 12 – May 27, 2024
A story about reverence. Featuring work by earth pigment painter, Jessyjo Darling and ceramic sculptor, Debra Fritts. This show bridges the gap between the earth and the heavens, illuminating the sacredness of all things. We witness a calmness in coming home to the earth and ourselves, knowing that source is ever present within us. In the quiet, in the spaciousness of contemplation, in devotion, we honor that we are all spiritual beings having a human experience.
DESERT BLOOM
February 10 – April 8, 2024
A story about hope and rebirth. Folklore’s inaugural group show explores beauty in all phases of nature’s cycles. We honor the earth in her dormancy, the seeds we plant quietly, and the wild, divine process of unfurling. Featuring work by Alysha Colangeli, Briana Devoe, Jeanna Gienke, Kristi Head, Emelie Richardson, Katie Rodgers, Rebecca Mapes, and Leana Zuñiga.
