  • November 22, 2024 – January 6, 2025
We’re open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm or by appointment.

A story about nurturing light. Our holiday show this year is an accessible art show; meaning, in the spirit of gifting and spreading creative light across the land this holiday season, all works are priced under $1,000. We’re showcasing the brilliance of 12+ artists — individuals you’ll recognize from our roster, sharing small or experimental works, alongside some exciting new names. Creativity heals, art heals. The more we tend to our own creative spirit and stoke the creativity in others, the more warmth and joy will be felt far and wide. Featuring works by House of Arulu, Kristin Anchors, Elena Brower, Alysha Colangeli, Danielle Hutchens, Meg Jorgenson, PATIO, Manon Pierme, Emelie Richardson, Sean W. Spellman, and Briana Devoe White.

HOUSE OF ARULU

Arulu is a multimedia visual artist based in Black Mountain, North Carolina. She specializes in the sculpting of clay and paper-mache masks inspired by her elaborate dreams and the spiritual dimension of the natural world. Arulu’s interest in making masks originates in her study of the ancient ceremonial use of masks worldwide for healing, protection, and communication with spirits and ancestors. Her watercolor paintings and ink drawings expand upon the same mythos as her sculptures and masks, often illustrating an evolving pantheon of therianthropic and hybrid creature-beings.

ELENA BROWER

Mother, painter, and bestselling author, Elena designed textiles and apparel for almost a decade before shifting her focus to teaching yoga asana, then raising her son and making art. After painting, water is introduced to the surface of each panel; respectfully allowing the flow with minimal interference is integral to the process of creation. Blending acrylic, oil crayon and pastel with water, each piece in this collection is an expression of the practice of meditation.

DANIELLE HUTCHENS

Danielle Hutchens is a Topanga-based painter and ceramicist, using sustainable practices to bring an earthy essence to her pieces. Danielle’s art explores themes of play, the balance of feminine and masculine energy, and curiosity sparked by nature. She also experiments with recycled clay as color on unprimed canvas – fusing her practices and media together naturally.

MEG JORGENSON

Meg Jorgenson is an Abstract-Impressionist painter whose work is visceral in meditative storytelling. Adapting form to meaning; her body of work flourishes through the interaction of the landscape and inner realms of consciousness. With inspiration from traveling the terrain and ancient ways of painting, she gathers earth elements to create natural dyes and pigments that are the grounding energies and give essence to her practice. She embodies a rural ethos that evolves in each piece, bringing an exploration of biomorphic movement that transcends in how she layers color to create light. With ease she invites the viewer not so much to discern, as to absorb in between defined realms.

MANON PIERME

Manon has always been enveloped in the world of art. With an artist for a father and an art gallery owner for a mother, she developed a profound appreciation for creativity from a young age. Throughout her childhood and into her teenage years, she eagerly participated in numerous art classes and exhibitions, nurturing her passion for artistic expression. For over a decade, she has channeled her talents into culinary arts and consulted on innovative approaches to nutrition and wellness. After becoming a mother, Manon sought solace in her artwork, finding a sanctuary that provided peace and healing. The same therapeutic qualities she experienced during her adolescence returned, inspiring her to re-engage with her creativity. Today, she is devoted to dedicating more time to her artistic pursuits and is excited to share her work with the public. Through this journey, she aims to explore how the diverse forms of creativity can enrich all aspects of her life and work.

EMELIE RICHARDSON

Emelie Richardson’s handwoven works blur the boundaries of traditional craft and painting. In Emelie’s handwoven paintings, chance and improvisation have become integral elements to the laborious process of weaving, in which fluid line and form cannot be easily controlled. Allowing the materials to play a large role in informing the work, Emelie highlights spontaneous subtle shifts in surface texture and tonality. Emelie currently lives and works in Chimayo, New Mexico.

SEAN W. SPELLMAN

Sean W. Spellman is a New England native who spent nearly a decade of his formative years living and working in various American cities: Portland, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and now in the sleepy coastal town of Westerly, RI. He has crossed the country more than two dozen times, many of them solo, documenting his journeys in paintings, drawings, photographs, and song. These "interpretations" serve as self-proclaimed personal inspiration to "keep moving" and as conceptual documents of the many places a person might dream of calling home.

BRIANA DEVOE WHITE

Inspired by Briana’s childhood home in the high desert outside Santa Fe, her collection pays homage to the enchanting, sometimes ghostly beauty of the high desert landscape, a landscape of sagebrush, tumbleweed and Apache plume, of dust, flowering cactus and vast blue skies. Her namesake studio creates emotionally resonant works of art that are digitally adapted for production in the textile, apparel, and surface design industries.
